My favorite. I love salt and I love these after 38 holes of golf or at the club during some dancing.

Perhaps I'm wrong....

I've always made this in a rocks glass; therefore, I include no ice. (The grapfruit juice is cold enough that it doesn't need ice anyway.) Also, the salt doesn't go in the drink; it goes on the rim of the glass. That's the way I was shown how to make it, and it's the way that I've always recieved it from the bar.

Like I said earlier, though, I could be wrong. A lot of places don't carry grapefruit juice at the bar, so I haven't been able to order it very many times to see if this given recipe is more standard.

I had this drink at The Lake of the Ozarks with freshly squeezed grapefruit...and the salt goes on the rim....so good I bought a high-end juicer just so I can make it home.

GIN!

Real Salty Dogs are made with gin, not vodka. Same goes for Martinis. Vodka is a poor, bland substitute for gin!
