Chocolate Milk Soda or Shake recipe

2 cups sugar
2 cups boiling water
1/8 tsp salt
6 oz unsweetened chocolate
1 tsp vanilla extract

Use unsweetened chocolate or 1 cup cocoa powder, unsweetened. In a saucepan, combine 2 cups boiling water, 2 cups sugar, salt and chocolate or cocoa. Cook and stir over medium heat until smooth. Cool then add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Pour into covered jar and store in refrigerator. Yield: 3 cups syrup. To make milkshake, place 2 tablespoons crushed ice, 2/3 cup milk and 2-1/2 tablespoons chocolate syrup in a shaker and shake until well mixed, or beat with rotary beaters until smooth. Add 1 to 2 scoops of ice cream if you prefer.
