The recipe is great but you can add an edge with a quality brandied cherries instead. those are hard to find! some great ones are made in canada and france, you can try to can your own as well. you can expect to pay about $20USD per 16oz jar.

now, follow the recipe as above, and at the end, add a cocktail pick with 3-4 brandied cherries (they're usually very small). take a teaspoon full of the brandied cherry juice out of the jar and slowly pour it into the finished cocktail with the spoon touching the side of the glass. the juice will drop to the bottom. it's a very nice looking two-tone cocktail, and i think that it tastes better too!
