Purple Rain recipe

1 1/2 oz gin
cranberry juice
1 splash Blue Curacao liqueur
1 splash sweet and sour mix
1 splash soda water

Pour gin into an ice-filled highball glass, and fill with cranberry juice. Add blue curacao, sour mix and soda. Shake gently, add more curacao (until royal-purple), and serve.

Had it in a bar in aberdeen, within 5 minutes i was having my third and the way they served it was so great, set it alite, pour it into another glass, drink it, breath in the hot air then sniff the dregs.

I'm a barman at iota bar in cardiff and our purple rain is quiet different to this but ours is really popular too - ours is - 25mls of vodka, 25mls archers, topped up with lemonade, 20mls of blue bols or blue curacao with a drizzle of grenadine.

It's better.

We get 25ml sambuca and a dash of blue bols, pour into a wine glass then set on fine and spine for 10 seconds. Pour (while still on fire) out of the wine glass and into a singles glass. Stub out the flame with the wine glass, keep it upside down then place it on the table. Drink the sambuca, get a straw and breath the gas from under the wine glass, then pour the last drops of sambuca onto the base of the upturned wine glass. Snort it. Then if your like most of the people I serve this to, collapse.
