In a copper mug. Makes all the difference in the world.

I use Ginger Beer and serve in copper cups filled with ice.
Ginger BEER

Terrible recipe: use lime juice, bitters, and ginger beer. A new world of booze. If not, at least a great drink in the New Zealand summer.

I have had it with ginger beer, not ginger ale... and it needs to be served in a copper cup.

Decent drink. I used diet ginger ale instead of regular.

A copper mug AND ginger beer rather than ginger ale makes a huge difference...check an international mkt for ginger beer!
Ginger BEER not Ginger Ale

If you really want this drink to taste awesome, use ginger beer, which is stronger and finishes with a bite. It is ultimately superior to using ginger ale. Also, use fresh lime only! Rose's or other lime juice won't be nearly as good.
Agreed

Ginger beer and a copper mug a must! - that is how it was first made and there is no other recipe. Others (highball glass and ginger ale) are incorrect and are not true moscow mules.
I agree with some of the above

My preferred way of doing it is in a copper mug, with crushed ice, ginger *beer* and a dash or three of angostura bitters, which does make a difference... and in my large mugs I tend to use a bit more vodka and a touch more ginger beer, and drop two or three of the squeezed lime quarters in the mug.
THE REAL RECIPE!!!

Its a tall glass with Bitters, vodka, ginger ALE, lime cordial and a slice of lime! It originated as an alteration to a long vodka!
No ginger ale

MUST BE MADE WITH GINGER BEER.
Trying to make this drink taste good with diet ginger ale is just plain foolish.
A MUST

the ginger beer is important, but nothing is more critical than the copper mugs.
