I substituted Rose's Lime Juice (sweet) for the lime juice, best Margarita I've ever had!!! And, believe me I have had many Margaritas over the years.
Not quite...

For a true Margarita, you want a Tequila:Cointreau:Lime ratio of 3:2:1. You should use 1.5 oz tequila, 1 oz triple sec, 0.5 oz tequila.

"Classic margarita"

The ratio of 3:2:1 may be the the recipe for the "true" margarita, but it tastes like crap. 3 ounces of Patron silver, 2 ounces of Cointreau, and 1 ounce of lime....yuck. I can stomach it, but I definitely would not recommend it.
Purists, bahhh

First of all, cointreau is a premium triple sec. The recipe does not specify the brand or quality of ingredients; You can use Cuervo and Bol's, or Patron and Cointreau, depending on your budget.

Second, there are many ways to make a margarita, and many claims to the original or perfect recipe. 3:2:1 (100% agave tequila; Cointreau; lime juice) is often considered a classic ratio, but 2:1:1, 3:1:1, and 1:1:1 are also used.

Finally, sure, the margarita glass is THE margarita glass. But as self respecting man, I tend to prefer my drinks in an old fashioned glass if I have the choice. Purists, bahhh!

Glass or Paper Cup - who cares!

A good margarita doesn't need a special container to drink it out of, a GOOD margarita is the drink - not the container! By the way, I like mine in a old fashion glass too.
Agrees With Spencer

I really love that old fashioned glass idea. The margarita glass MAY be the original, but the portions are large, unsexy, etc. Margarita on the rocks with fresh key lime juice in an old fashioned glass is perfection!
