Chicago Cocktail recipe

This drink as it's listed tastes like cough syrup. It's really thick and the bitters give off a licorice taste. I have seen this recipe in another book that adds sparkling wine to this same mixture. Though I haven't tried it yet, I think this would be a good addition to thin it out a bit so it's not so syrup-y.
